Top Podcasts to listen to when Travelling

There are a few times in life when you’re really in need of a podcast, a long car journey alone, not having enough points to access wifi on a plane or of course when your arms are simply too tired holding up your book on the sun lounger. So to help you out, SHARP has listed its top ultimate travelling podcasts.

  1. Stuff You Should Know

This one ticks all the boxes, it’s entertaining, interesting and better yet, you actually learn facts that you can intelligently spout at dinners/meetings/the local pub (delete as appropriate.) However there’s no doubt that some of the ultimately brilliant episodes cover the real crime events that you may have vaguely heard of but have absolutely no idea what went on.

Top episodes include:

  • The Disappearance of the Yuba County Five
  • The Collar Bomb Heist
  • PT Barnum: More complicated than you’ve Heard
  • The Harriet Tubman Story

     2) Lore

Aaron Mahnke is the King of suspense, true spooks and a little bit of humour. Lore takes listeners through true stories of unusual places, people and creatures and how they impact us today. Warning: Don’t listen to on a long drive at night, you’ll constantly be checking the back seat.

Top episodes include:

  • A Grave Mistake
  • Stronger
  • Desperate Measures
  • Seeing Double

3) My Dad Wrote A Porno

This one has been on the podcast circuit for a while now and they even have a live show touring, but My Dad Wrote a Porno still remains one of the most entertaining laugh-out-loud listens and there’s no harm in joining the party a little late. Hosted by Jamie Morton, James Cooper and Alice Levine, the trio read through Jamie’s dad’s published adult fiction.

We would tell you top episodes, but it’s probably best to listen to this one right from the start.

4) The Receipts

Hosted by four girls that all immediately sound like your big sisters, the Receipts Podcast is a realtalk group of women that discuss about just about everything. From singing the best 90’s tracks to solving listener problems and bringing their own life experiences, the podcast featuring Audrey, Tolani and Milena creates a safe, open and often hilarious environment.

Top episodes include:

  • Any with the Title – Your Receipts, these are when listeners e-mail in their own problems and the girls give their solutions.
  • Hustle and Glo Feat Irene Agbontaen
  • Beyond Twitter – A Lesson in Colourism Feat Maya Jama
  • Waist belts and Akademiks Tracksuits
