It’s all part of the beautiful process of life. Learning to let go. Once embraced it is one of the most powerful gifts you can give yourself, but, isn’t always easy. It takes a lot of little pieces all coming together to enable the release of what no longer serves you.
Many live their lives not releasing, just coping, coasting, stressing and subsequently this impacts the foods we choose and the general lifestyle we lead. Leaning towards coping strategies such as too much alcohol, emotional offloading, binge eating, over shopping, sleeping or even over exercising to dampen emotions surrounding life challenges. It becomes ‘our’ normal.
We forget that we are ‘deserving’ to live a healthy and happy life, we forget that our ‘normal’ may not be healthful. It can damage our long term health by leading to many modern lifestyle conditions, such as depression, anxiety, regular headaches, aches, pains, poor sleep patterns, weight gain and unhelpful thinking strategies.
Letting go of what weighs you down, is one of the foundational pillars to creating more emotional resilience and a happier existence. Life will present challenges, but becoming aware of the need to focus on what enriches you, helps you grow or makes you a better person is crucial. Also, letting go of all those expectations you had of yourself too or where you thought you should be, needed to be or kinda thought you would be ‘at this stage’ of your life. That stuff weighs you down too!
It’s not always easy this letting go, it’s a process, that we can begin to adopt, and work on, gently reminding ourselves when we need to. Always with kindness and in a non judgemental way. It is a process, of repeated action, re-wiring your mind and teaching yourself new ways to work through problems. Applying these three steps you can begin on that journey to reducing life stress, enhancing emotional resilience and mind fitness that leaves you more at peace and able to cope with whatever life throws in a solution focused manner.
The first is awareness and raw honesty with yourself. Being aware of your triggers, what is going on with your thoughts when something happens. Do you allow your thoughts to run out of control. Are you negative? Are you self criticising? Are you kind and compassionate? What tone are you using with yourself?
The next step is acceptance or create change. Is this something you can control? Are you able to make a change (however small) to find a solution? What choices are available to you? Look at things from different perspectives. Or, is this something to accept and be at peace with for now. Evolve and grow. Every experience in life either good or bad will always give us something, provide an experience we can take with us or teach us a life lesson. Approach life with more curiosity, avoid fighting with what you can not change, find healthful solutions to self sooth rather than self sabotage and find something in each experience that you can take with you positively.

Banana’s are a rich source of potassium and fiber, the nut butter provides quality healthy fats and the flax ad chia seed for plant-based fiber and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
Put all 5 ingredients into a blender, put the almond milk in first. Blend until smooth add water for a runnier consistency and ice if you wish too. Easy.
1 1/2 ripe frozen banana (remember to remove skin before you freeze)
1 Tbsp almond butter (or peanut or sunflower seed butter)
3/4 cup unsweetened plain almond milk.
1 Tbsp flaxseed meal.
1 Tbsp chia seed.
